My name is Duncan Boar. I'm an International Mountain Leader based in the Abruzzo region of Italy.

I lead my own guided trekking holidays in the mountainous regions of Italy, from the dramatic steep side of the Aosta Valley (including the Mont Blanc Massif and the Val D'Gressoney) to the Brenta Dolomite's and the wild regions of the Abruzzi in central Italy.

Dolomite's: High in the rock fortress that is the Brenta Dolomite's is the Rifugio Pedrotti (video above). Magical highlights of these treks tend to be the scrambling sections, tunnels through the mountain side with staggering views and the chance to see the Marmot colonies on route. Trips to the Brenta Dolomite's start in Mid June and you can find out more by clicking here.

Spring & Summer 2013

Spring is here. If you can't wait for summer to get out in the mountains then you need to get to Abruzzo! Where's that? Well, it's half way down the Apeninne mountainous spine of Italy or in modern travelling terms go to Rome and then head across Italy to the Adriatic. Click on this link to go to the Abruzzo pages.

Throughout April and May the temperature is equivalent to the best days of summer in the UK. Trekking conditions are ideal and with summits reaching almost 3,000 metres there's plenty to do. Click here to find out more.

Piedmont: Below the Monta Rosa massif is the Val D'Gressoney. In early June many of the flowers are in blume. The valley is coming alive and there are many remote mountain paths to follow before the majority of tourists arrive. To read on click Val D' Gressoney ...
